Maroondah Boat Ramp

Our Client had identified a major hazard involving their Operators embarking and disembarking from their service vessel. We were engaged to design and engineer a system that allowed safe access to their boat and was further tasked with the fabrication and installation of the access system. The system had to be robust enough to withstand knocks by boats and trailers and withstand the elements of the environment.

Project Highlights

  • Installation of a high-quality system that not only met the client’s brief but ensured the safety of their employees

  • Delivery of the project with zero incidents or injuries

  • Project was delivered on time and on budget

Services Provided

  • Working with stakeholders to conceptualise a working model that was fit for purpose.

  • Design and Engineering of the access system.

  • In-house bespoke fabrication of the platform.

  • Installation of the boat ramp access system including excavations and concreting works.

Services Provided

  • Assessment of the condition of the deteriorated carpark and surrounding areas.

  • Collaboration with our client to develop a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the rectification works, providing expert advice and recommendations on the best approach to address the issues within budget and time constraints.

  • Implementation of safety measures by cordoning off the affected areas to prevent public access during the works.

  • Carrying out the necessary resurfacing and repairs to the carpark and other high-traffic areas, ensuring a safe and functional environment for the public until the larger capital project is completed.

Challenges

  • Ensuring durability and functionality of platform with constant submersion in water.

  • Assuring precise material selection that not only specialised in water resistance but would not react with each other causing corrosion.

  • Working in and around water on an area with a steep incline.

Outcome

Designed a platform system that complied with Australian Standards, constructed with structural steel and high-build epoxy coating for sustainability, marine-grade fiberglass walkways for a non-slip surface, and footings sunk and concreted to a depth of 1.8m to ensure structural integrity.
