Bundoora Park Amphitheatre
Our client had identified that the existing amphitheatre was in disrepute and no longer suited for its intended purpose of hosting school groups and community gatherings. We were tasked with the design for the new amphitheatre using natural mudstone, ensuring the materials enhanced the aesthetics of the park while addressing safety concerns.

Evaluation of the existing amphitheatre to assess safety hazards, particularly in relation to its poor condition and risks to children, and developed a refurbishment plan.

Sourcing of high-quality, aesthetically pleasing mudstone that met the client’s specifications.

Removal of existing wooden sleepers to be recycled on future projects.

Challenges

Sourcing suitable sand stones to fit the dimensions of the required space whilst remaining functional.

Client requested the addition of a third tier half way through. construction, resulting in excavation issues.

A limited time frame that coincided with an opening held by the mayor.
Outcome
The refurbishment of the Bundoora Park Amphitheatre was successfully completed, eliminating the safety hazards associated with the previous structure. The new installation, using natural mudstone, significantly enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the amphitheatre while providing a safe environment for the public, especially children. The project was delivered to an exceptional standard, and the site was made safe for all visitors.
