St Albans Structural Tank Repairs
As part of our Client’s Water Tank Condition Monitoring project we were tasked with rectifying defects identified that posed a risk to the structural integrity of the tank and the water quality within it.The works required structural repairs both at ground level on the steel floor as well as high rope access to the structural support bracing.

Through innovation and quality delivery we were able to contribute to the longevity of the tank without the need for major capital repairs.

Worked in conjunction with multiple contractors on-site to provide solutions to defects that were identified from the top of the tank down to the floor.

Developed a methodology for Floor Patching and Cold Welding that has been adopted across all tank repairs in the network

Using alternative methods of access to fix high level bracing issues without having to remove roof sheets.

Production of tank specific ITP’s to ensure that the recommended remediation works are undertaken as intended.

Roof sealing to provide waterproofing including the application of silicon’s or similar waterproofing agents, filling of any perforations or identified gaps in roof structures, replacement of roof sheet metal, replacement of roof screws or similar tie downs, replacement of covers

Steel plate floor patching via approved AS4020:2018 potable water safe epoxy product and installation methodology

Replacement of gaskets used to seal hatches, doorways, etc

We made structural repairs to high level structural supports repairing the structural bracing at high levels

Assessment of the condition of the deteriorated carpark and surrounding areas.

Collaboration with our client to develop a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the rectification works, providing expert advice and recommendations on the best approach to address the issues within budget and time constraints.

Implementation of safety measures by cordoning off the affected areas to prevent public access during the works.

Carrying out the necessary resurfacing and repairs to the carpark and other high-traffic areas, ensuring a safe and functional environment for the public until the larger capital project is completed.
Challenges

Coordinating safely and efficiently with another contractor undertaking simultaneous landscaping works presented logistical challenges.

Accurately setting fence heights and alignments based on provided drawings was critical, as the fence needed to accommodate a future path installation.
Outcome
The Council and client were highly satisfied with the completed installation, which met all project requirements and expectations. The final site inspection was completed without any issues, and no punch list items were raised. Overall, the project was completed successfully and received positive feedback from all stakeholders.
